Laser Hair Removal Pre Care
Before your laser hair removal session, make sure to follow these important steps:
Preparing for Your Laser Hair Removal Appointment
- Shave 24-48 Hours Before Your Session: Ensure the treatment area is cleanly shaved a day or two before your appointment.
- Avoid Spicy Food & Cigarettes: Steer clear of spicy foods and cigarettes 24 hours before and after your session.
- No Hair Bleaching: Refrain from bleaching your hair follicles before your laser treatment.
- No Botox or Dermal Fillers: Don’t schedule any Botox or dermal filler appointments before your laser session; wait at least 2 weeks after your laser session to get these treatments.
- Stay Away from Alcohol: Skip alcohol consumption 24 hours before your session, as it can dehydrate your skin.
- Reduce Caffeine: Avoid coffee several hours before your session, as caffeine can make your skin more sensitive.
- No Deodorant, Makeup, Creams, or Oils: Ensure the treated areas are free from deodorant, makeup, creams, or oils on the day of your session.
- Skip Tanning: Avoid tanning before your session, and do not arrive with sunburned skin.
- Post-Gym Shower: If you’ve been to the gym, please shower before your session to remove any sweat.
- No Waxing, Tweezing, or Threading: Stop all waxing, tweezing, or threading of the treated areas at least 4 weeks before your session; the laser targets the follicles at the root.
- Clean the Treatment Area: Make sure the area being treated is clean; clean skin helps the laser target the hair follicle effectively.
- Finish Medications: Finish all medications, including blood thinners, anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, topical products with retinol, acne products, and hormone treatments, at least 1 week before your session, as they can make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of side effects.
